Opening Hours

Mon - Fri: 7AM - 7PM

Our hearts yearn for nature, but our bodies are trapped in tall buildings. When modern civilization takes steel as its skeleton and speed as its standard, there is a counter-current emerging in the architectural world-returning to the land and learning from nature. This is the original intention of the natural architecture movement.
Instead of pursuing the limits of technology and the innovation of materials, it turns to traditional wisdom for answers: clay, bamboo, wood, thatch. These ancient materials are reawakened with the goal of building buildings that can breathe, grow and eventually return to dust, and reconstruct a spiritual habitat for modern people.
Today, let’s get closer to the natural architecture designer-Thilina Liyanage. His works are inspired by birds, animals, flowers and plants, and the materials are taken from bamboo forests and trees. He used his imagination as a bridge to build an amazing “new life” on the earth.
These “creatures” lie quietly between the mountains and rivers. Just staring can make people feel long-lost peace and belonging.
If there is life in architecture
Must have its own soul

NO.01

Bighorn Observation Deck

Bighorn Sheep Safari Observation Deck

Lianna’s architectural style is a lofty tribute to the power of nature. He used wood and bamboo to shape lifelike giant animals, and the visual effect is miraculous. For example, this Bighorn Sheep Observation Deck, which will directly shape a platform for tourists to watch wild animals into the shape of Bighorn Sheep, allowing visitors to have a complete experience of immersion in nature.

The huge horn made of wood and wicker is not only one with the environment, but also seems sacred and solemn under the vast sky because of its magnificent scale, like a silent ode to the wilderness.

Lianna said, “I am a nature lover. My eyes are always fixed on all things in nature and looking for inspiration for my projects. I live in a quiet area with natural waterways, rice fields and small forests. I draw ideas from these elements, and even a pebble under my feet when walking can inspire me.”

NO.02

Asuka Lakeside Villa

Flying Birdie Lake Villa

In addition to bighorn sheep, Lianna’s imaginative library includes a variety of animal and plant forms. For example, vertical villas in the shape of hawks, cafes in the shape of jaguars, and beach bars in the shape of octopuses. All creatures are the source of his creativity, constantly enriching his growing world of conceptual design.

This Bird Lakeside Villa has won awards and recognition from the design industry because of its beauty and practicality, creativity and beauty. It not only proves the beauty of nature, but also inspires another possibility of future home life.

Lianna shared: “Most of my ideas stem from natural elements, such as flowers, birds, mammals and marine life. Once inspired, I will quickly sketch with pencil, and sometimes make models with cardboard to copy those delicate natural textures.”

NO.03

Asuka Bamboo Villa

Birdie Bamboo Villa

This bamboo-carved villa designed by Lyanna is like a giant bird flying, with an elegant posture, nestled among the mountains and green trees. The natural properties of bamboo and wood make it a growing part of the landscape.

For those who are eager for nature, the spread chest and wings of the “flying bird” provide wide open indoor activities. The villa is divided into two floors, the upper floor is the bedroom, the lower floor is the living area and bathroom, and there is a cantilevered hammock next to it for people to rest.

The “Bird Tail” is also a viewing balcony. For those who seek the embrace of nature, this is a resting place to bask in the sun, listen to birds’ songs and thoroughly integrate into nature, and it is also a habitat for the soul. As a villa surrounded by nature, people can spend a peaceful weekend here.

NO.04

Golden Swan Pier

Golden Swan Jetty

In eastern and western cultures, swans all symbolize purity, loyalty and nobility. In ancient China, swans were called swan, and the Book of Songs described them as “white birds are white and fat”.

When you think of elegance, you will think of the posture of the swan. Sometimes bending your neck and bowing your head, being quiet is better than a fairy. Lyanna designed this houseboat dock for tourists to rest based on swans.

On the calm lake, this “swan” has plump wings and a slender neck, looking out at the lake and mountains, looking like a general and elegant as a fairy, which makes tourists feel like they are in a fairyland and linger.

NO.05

Peacock Beach restaurant

Peacock Beach Restaurant

If there are animals whose beauty can rival swans, peacocks must be among them. As the most beautiful bird in nature, peacock is a symbol of kindness, beauty and dignity, and is regarded as an auspicious bird by people.

Lyanna wanted to show the magnificence of peacocks and designed this beach restaurant in its shape.
During the day, the wooden Peacock restaurant is simple and grand. At night, the lights on the wings gradually light up, reappearing the gorgeous blue-green color when the screen is opened. The velvet light flashes in the night sky, which is beautiful, romantic, charming and dreamy.

The designer explained: “Light depends on the environment, angle, time and even height. The atmosphere of the whole scene is controlled by lighting. This means that every moment seen is unique.”

NO.06

Turtle Restaurant

Turtle Restaurant

Turtles are one of the oldest animals on earth. They appeared more than 200 million years ago and are regarded as “living fossils” by archaeologists. They live in the sea all year round and rarely go ashore except for laying eggs and basking in the sun.

But this turtle designed by Lyanna is an exception. It crawls docilly on the beach, providing shelter and food for hungry tourists. As an ancient and composed creature, the turtle’s slow gait gives a reassuring strength.

No one can resist dining here-a huge and beautiful “turtle”, with its quiet and graceful posture, makes people involuntarily think of poetry, safety and home.

NO.07

Deer Garden Observation Deck

Deer Safari Observation Deck

Lyanna designed this giant observation platform in Sri Lanka’s Yala National Park. The platform imitates the graceful posture of deer. On the solid wooden structure, a winding staircase leads to the double-decker platform, which can accommodate more than ten people. There is nothing above the platform, only the boundless blue sky.

The whole shape perfectly embodies his architectural philosophy: conforming to nature, respecting nature and melting into nature. Creeping on the earth in the form of life.

When you step onto this “animal” observation platform, overlook the vegetation and creatures below, bathe in the sunshine and breeze, and feel the rhythm of your own pulse, you can experience “I am nature, and nature is me” to the maximum extent.

NO.08

Floating Pod Meditation House

Floating Pods

The pod house floating on the lake allows visitors to meditate on the sounds of water and nature. This is a favored retreat for yoga enthusiasts. The pod acts as a protective shell that places the person in the arms of Mother Nature. In the quiet interior decoration and gurgling sound of water, people can enter the deep meditation world.

The lake water forms the perfect background, which makes the pods seem to be floating in the vast universe, realizing a wonderful experience that is isolated from the surroundings and completely inclusive of the environment.

In the wrapping of pods, in the deep tranquility, the mind becomes relaxed and soft, and the body enters a state of selflessness. Everything is just right, as the heart wants. You feel pleasure, experience abundance, mental clarity, and soul peace.

NO.09

Orchid Villa

Orchid Villa

“The orchid fragrance is far away from the wind, and the grass flows fragrant roots.” The orchid villa built by Lianna is far away from urban civilization, like a pearl in the wilderness, providing visitors with a perfect vacation residence. This beautiful building in natural style perfectly balances visual elegance with the practicality of space.

Like most of Lianna’s works, this villa is built with curved bamboo, combined into the shape of an orchid. The outer layer of bamboo is covered with translucent fabric, which makes each bamboo post resemble a vein on a flower petal. Ingenious use of light can change color of “flowers” and bring a unique aesthetic feeling to the building.

The multi-storey residence features a ground floor living area, a terrace with a private pool, and hammocks overhanging over the adjacent lake, allowing guests to enjoy the beautiful sunrises and sunsets while relaxing.

NO.10

Mushroom Villa

Mushroom Villa

The Mushroom Villa is a duplex holiday home with a comfortable design that contains a living room, terrace, bedroom and oversized balcony. The mushroom-shaped roof is equipped with 14 solar panels, which provide living electricity for the villa, which is environmentally friendly and convenient.

The eye-catching open-air swimming pool is the brightest existence of the whole villa, exuding summer vitality and idyllic happiness.

Bringing your family and children to such an outdoor place, whether playing or resting, can relax your mind and stretch your body. Especially at sunset, enjoying the quiet life shrouded in afterglow is a wonderful life experience.

NO.11

Banana Flower Observation Deck

Banana Flower Observation Deck

The Banana Flower Observation Deck built in the wetland park is a design that Lianna likes very much, inspired by the environment around him. Banana trees and their flowers and fruits are part of everyday life in Sri Lanka.

“My design was inspired by a banana flower near the house, which inspired me to design this piece that can be used as an outdoor observation platform. The curved staircase, circular platform and safety railing make the observation platform a beautiful sight in itself.”

The main materials of the observation deck are natural wood, bamboo and palm leaves. With a lower carbon footprint and enhanced structural strength through two steel cables, these designs are a model of low cost and high safety.

NO.12

Flytrap Sky Restaurant

Venus Flytrap Sky Restaurant

The flytrap is a popular insectivorous plant whose scientific name “Dionaea muscipula” is known in English as “Venus Flytrap”, which literally translates as “Venus’s fly trap”.

This plant “love hunts” with its beautiful appearance, and once it falls into it, it is difficult to extricate itself. It sounds full of romance, fanatical love and desperate beauty.

The Flytrap Sky restaurant designed by Lyanna sits on a cliff. Below is the shocking mountain scenery, which makes people experience blood and heartbeat, as if they were caught in a dangerous, exciting and unextricable “love”.

NO.13

Honeycomb Meditation House

Hive Meditation

Honeycombs are amazing natural buildings. Each nest house is a perfect hexagonal shape, covered with ripe honey and reddish brown with pollen. Each nest spleen is made up of thousands of nest rooms connected and built by beeswax secreted by worker bees.

In addition to its beautiful shape and sturdy structure, honeycombs are strictly hexagonal columns consisting of three identical diamonds. Scholars have measured and found that the obtuse angle and acute angle of its diamond chassis are fixed and uniform. Mathematicians have confirmed from theoretical calculations that it is this angle to consume the least material to make the largest diamond-shaped container. In this sense, bees can be called “genius mathematicians and designers”.

NO.14

Blooming Pod House

Cracked Pods

There is a poem praising the pod: “When you are mature, it is your belief to be grateful for the nurturing of the land. Listen, crackling, crackling, golden sound, resounding through the fields and circling in the countryside.”

As a split fruit, the pods will bloom along the sutures as they ripen due to dryness. As a result, the pods scattered all over the ground after the peel cracks are like playful flowers blooming on the earth, which are lovely and moving.

The pod houses designed by Lyanna are in twos and threes, strewn at random, looping back to each other, just like a poem dedicated to the earth, containing abundant hope and beauty, and becoming the best footnote of the land.

NO.15

Peanut Shell Villa

Peanut Shell Villa

It’s hard to imagine that common and seemingly useless peanut shells can also be design inspiration. The peanut shell villa built by Lyanna hangs from the cliff, showing a broken shape, and the middle part is used as an accommodation and viewing space.

In this “peanut shell”, people enjoy the boundless cliff scenery below, feel the sense of security of being wrapped, and at the same time, their vision is unblocked. The whole design is both beautiful and functional and full of whimsy.

These pearl-like “peanut shells”, originally ordinary plant wastes, jump into view as the most beautiful scenery in the mountains, which makes people marvel at the magnificence and boldness of human imagination.

Although the designer himself said that his inspiration came from animals and plants, ancient sites, traditional culture and tropical environment and elements, viewers would still be shocked by his unconstrained creations.

This makes people feel: “Perhaps reason is too boring, so God created artists.” It makes people sigh that before human beings exerted their creativity, God had already created the most perfect world.
